• What kind of accommodation can I expect at the G Lodge Amazon?

  You will stay at the exclusive G Lodge Amazon for four nights. The lodge features a native architectural style with eco-friendly technology. Rooms are simple but comfortable, equipped with mosquito netting for beds, flush toilets, showers with solar-heated hot water, and candles for lighting as there is no electricity. Please be aware that hot water shortages and power outages can be fairly common in Peru.

• Is single occupancy guaranteed at the G Lodge Amazon?

  The G Lodge does not have single rooms. Single travelers or groups with odd numbers will be paired with another passenger of the same gender when the lodge is full. If you have booked this tour as a single traveler, you will have your own room throughout.

• What kind of activities are included in this Amazon adventure?

  The tour includes guided excursions led by expert naturalists to spot wildlife along jungle trails and by canoe on oxbow lakes. You will enjoy a night walk around the lodge, a caiman-spotting cruise after dinner, and a walk to a protected Brazil nut tree conservation area. You can also relax in a hammock, enjoy the local swimming hole, or visit a nearby plantation.

• What kind of wildlife can I expect to see?

  During your excursions, you may spot a variety of bird species typical of the river and forest edge, as the Tambopata Rainforest holds a world record for bird sightings in one area. You will also search for anaconda, the elusive giant river otter, and black caiman.

• What meals are included during the tour?

  The tour includes 4 breakfasts, 4 lunches, and 4 dinners. Meals in remote regions are typically plentiful and made from fresh local ingredients.

• Who will be leading the excursions during my stay?

  You will be accompanied by expert local naturalist guides for all included activities while at the G Lodge Amazon. These guides are local community members and can provide extensive information about the area's flora, fauna, and traditional uses of natural resources.

• What is the typical group size for this tour?

  The tour is designed for a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 25 travelers.

• What is the physical rating for this adventure?

  This tour has a physical rating of 3. Travelers should have at least an average level of fitness and mobility, being able to walk without aid, climb 3-4 flights of stairs, step on and off small boats, and carry their own luggage.

• What currency should I bring for spending money, and are credit cards accepted?

  The local currency in Peru is the Nuevo Sol (PEN). Credit and debit cards, especially Visa, are useful for cash advances, but their functionality is not guaranteed in Latin America. A combination of US dollar cash and cards is recommended. Be aware that a 5-10% fee usually applies to credit card purchases. Traveler's cheques are not recommended, and it's best to bring notes in good condition and denominations lower than 100 USD.

• Is tipping customary in Peru?

  Yes, it is customary in Latin America to tip service providers such as waiters and local guides approximately 10%, depending on the service. Tipping is an expected, though not compulsory, component of your tour program and an expression of satisfaction.

• How much emergency money should I have access to?

  Please ensure you have access to at least an additional USD $200 (or equivalent) as an 'emergency' fund, to be used if circumstances outside our control, such as a natural disaster, require a change to the planned route.

• Are there any health considerations or required inoculations for this trip?

  Inoculations may be required for Peru. It is your responsibility to consult with your travel doctor for up-to-date medical travel information well before departure. We recommend carrying a First Aid kit, hand sanitizers/antibacterial wipes, and any personal medical requirements. Our leaders are prohibited from administering any type of drug. Please assess your ability to cope with the travel style based on the physical rating.

• What safety precautions should I be aware of during the trip?

  Always look after your personal items, avoid leaving valuables visible in cars or hotel rooms, and lock your room door. It is strongly recommended to use a neck wallet or money belt for important documents and cash. During free time, use your own good judgment when selecting activities. In cities, it's advised to stay in small groups and take taxis at night. Be aware that protests can occur, and water-based activities carry inherent risks, so only participate when accompanied by a guide.

• How do I get to the G Lodge Amazon from Puerto Maldonado?

  Upon arrival at the Puerto Maldonado airport, you will meet your naturalist guide. After a brief stop in town to store large luggage, you will drive to the pier and travel by covered motorized boat to the jungle lodge, spotting wildlife along the way.

• Are international flights included in the tour price?

  No, international flights are generally not included in the price of your tour. Internal flights between Lima or Cuzco and Puerto Maldonado are also not included but can be arranged at the time of booking.

• Are laundry facilities available at the lodge?

  Laundry facilities are offered by some of our hotels for a charge. We suggest bringing non-polluting/biodegradable soap if you plan to do your own laundry.

• What is the minimum age to join this trip?

  The minimum age to join this trip is 2 years old.
